Here is Linda's second Christmas pillow.  This one comes with the cute Santa needle Nannie....isn't he just darling???

Now that you have done the hard part...stitching, let's do the easy part finishing!

Interface the back of the stitching and both fabrics.  Now cut the linen leave one inch on top, bottom and right side.  Trim left side to 3/4 inch.

Baste Rick rack to the right side.

Sew the green star fabric strip along this same side.  Adjust your seam allowance so the hills of the trim are showing.

Trim green stars flush with the top and bottom of the linen. Then trim the width to 2.5 inches.

Now cut a 3 inch strip of the beautiful red snowflake fabric.  Make sure to cut along the 8.5 edge.  Strip should measure 8.5 by 3 inches.  Sew this to the bottom using a 1/2 inch seam allowance.  

Now take the remaining snowflakes and use it for the backing.  Linen and snow are wrong sides together and sew using 1/2 inch seam allowance. Leave three inch opening at bottom for turning.  Trim corners turn and stuff.  Tie your bow and attach it with a couple of stitches or carefully placed glue.  

You are ready for the holidays...!

O Christmas Tree...Part Two!!!

Blogger and I are having a love hate relationship.....I am sure it is an "operator error"... Hopefully I can finish this up.

Ok. We have the trees along the bottom.  Clean up side and bottom seams so everything is nice and tidy.  Now with right sides together sew along the outside edges using a 1/2 inch seam. Leave a three inch opening at the bottom for turning.

Clip corners before turning. After turning stuff tightly using fiberfill and slip stitch opening shut.

The pillow is done and so is the post!  Hopefully tomorrow will be an easier post!  Stay tuned for Noel....loving that Needle Nannie!!!

Have you already stitched this cutie?  If so here are the directions to make your pillow look just like the model

Interface the back of the stitched linen and the cotton fabric.  This makes everything look and stuff better.

Cutting the linen is always scary but will help.  Measure out from the outermost stitch....cut one inch out on top and both sides.  Cut 3/4 inch on the bottom.

After cuts are made baste Rick rack along the bottom

Now cut a 1 1/4 inch strip of the green swirl fabric from the eight inch side.  The strip should be 1 1/4 inch by 8. Sew along the bottom...adjust seam so the "hills" of the Rick rack show.

Now is the time to add the beautiful trees!  Sew along the green swirls using a 1/2 inch seam.  

Put a Sock on it....The Mantle!

This is that exciting time of year...the push to find the perfect someone to finish a Christmas stocking.  That perfect someone can be YOU.

Here are a few simple steps to make a lovely stocking for your mantle.  This tutorial is especially geared for stockings without cutting guides.  

I like to interface the fabrics...stitching and linen.  I use a medium weight fusible interfacing on aida cloth.  

Now the shape...you can make a photo copy and practice on it until you get the desired shape or use an air erasable fabric marker.  That is what I us.  Decide who much fabric you want to show and mark the sides and bottom seam lines.  

Now for the tricky curves..use a circle template, roll of tape or eyeball what you want.  Remember you haven't cut anything so it can be changed. 

Once you are sure cut out the stocking....make sure to add the seam allowance!!!

Now use the front to cut out the lining....same size.  

Sew front of stocking to the backing fabric.  Right sides together....using the seam allowance you added!  Remember I said it was very important.

Trim backing flush with the front of stocking...clip seams around the curves.

Sew the lining...use same seam allowance as the stocking.  No need to turn right side out.  Just iron seam open at the top and turn down the same amount as the stocking top.

Slip lining inside stocking....use your favorite cording to cover the outside seam and form the hanger.

Tiny Tidings...the Woolies

This year's Tiny Tidings are super cute and super easy to finish!  You will need some

Chipboard

Low loft batting

Glue

Weeks Wool...make it easy and buy the pre packaged set!!!!!

Rotary cutter

Decorative blade..I used the wave blade. Ric rac blade is great too

The only hard part of this technique is deciding on colors and patterns of the wool....all are perfect!

Measure the stitching width and height add 1/4 inch to each measurement..this will give you 1/8th inch on each side...that is perfect.  Cut chipboard and cover one side with low loft quilt batting.  Glue or lace stitching to the board

It is so cute.

Decide on the first layer of wool and glue stitching to it.  

Using the clear quilt ruler measure out 1/8 inch from edge of ornament and trim wool on all four sides with rotary cutter.

Decisions....second layer of wool....this time glue only sides and bottom...leave top edge unglued

Again...measure out 1/8th inch from edge of last layer of wool and rotary cut.

Fold ribbon hanger in half .... Add a bell for fun and center it top center between the two layers of wool...glue in place and finish gluing the top area closed!

Have fun and be careful with your rotary cutters...they are sharp!

Will the Witch please Stand Up!

Items you must search for:

Pelion Craft Fuse

Morning Glory fiber fill

Use the Craft Fuse to interface the back of the stitched witch and the backing fabric.

Trim the linen leaving 1 inch on top and sides....leave one 1.5 inches on the bottom.

After cutting fold stitching in half and round off the top.

Layer stitching and backing fabric Wong sides together and sew the sides and top together...leaving a hole at top for your twig "stem".  Do not sew the bottom!

Clip the outer fabric for a nice rounded seam.

Turn right side out and slip your stem into place....then stuff the inside very, very, very, tightly

Really tightly

Then place the stuffed pumpkin on a piece of paper and trace the outline of the open bottom.  

The using the tracing cut a couple of the patterns from mat board...glue them together then cover one side with backing fabric.

Pin in place and slip stitch it in place...leave one half inch un-sewn at both side seams.

If you need a little more stuffing...slip it in before the final few stitches are completed

Slip in the twisted cord into one of the openings left at the side seams

Glue cording along the seam.  When you get to the opposite side stop and let it completely dry.  Then glue it around the bottom....again let it completely dry

After it is dry slip end into the seam opening.

Your witch should be standing tall and proud!  

Job well done!!!  She is ready to gather treats!

Are you ready to be SPOOKED!

Wow....I am so impressed.  The new Lizzie * Kate Mystery Sampler was just mailed to the shops last week and some of you are already for thr bonus design finishing directions!!! Sit back and get ready to finish....!

Our first Bonus design is a super cute two sided fob.  It would also make a great Halloween ornament for your holiday tree.

I am using Comic Board....available on Amazon...and low loft quilt batting.

Measure your finished stitching.

Add 1/4 inch to width and height measurements.  That will give you 1/8 inch on all sides.

Mine measured out to be 2 1/8 by 2 1/8 inches.  Cut two pieces and cover one side with low loft quilt batting

Center design over the batting and bring extra linen to the back, trim and glue or lace I place.

Trim out the extra linen on the corners for a nicer flat finish. 

Repeat with with the other stitched piece....then place wrong sides together.

Slip stitch the two pieces together catching just one thread from each side.  Try and catch the same row each time for a nice straight finish.  Leave one half inch open (not stitched) at the center top.

Use your favorite method and make twisted cord.  I did black, orange and green....and for a little flash I added one strand of Rainbow Gallery Artic Rays Black mixed in with the black floss.  Tie off a hanging loop at one end of the cord.  Tuck the end into the top opening....glue or whip stitch the cord in place around the outside edge. 

Work your way around to the top opening.  Tape, trim and tuck in the remaining cord end into the opening.

You have finished your fob!  Enjoy stitching your Mystery Sampler.
